There is an outrage is noticed nationwide for the Hathras gang-rape case where a 19-year-old Dalit woman who was viciously gang-raped near her village in western UP on 14th September and she died in New Delhi’s Safdarjang Hospital on 29th September.
The state government is in tremendous pressure due to protests across the country against its handling of the case. The Cast issues very much in the highlight in the case as she was raped and tortured by some ‘upper’ caste men in while she was out to get fodder.
Opposition political parties such as The Indian National Congress, Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and the Communist Party of India protests at different locations across the country and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take strict action in the case.
CM Adityanath had suspended of Hathras Superintendent of Police Mr.Vikrant Vir and 4 other police officers for their inappropriate handling of the case on Friday evening. A petition filed in the Supreme Court and also demanded quick suspension against the other chargeable policemen and medical staffs.
CM Adityanath has requested a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) investigation in the Hathras case. He tweeted “हाथरस की दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटना और जुड़े सभी बिंदुओं की गहन पड़ताल के उद्देश्य से @UPGovt इस प्रकरण की विवेचना केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो (CBI) के माध्यम से कराने की संस्तुति कर रही है। इस घटना के लिए जिम्मेदार सभी लोगों को कठोरतम सजा दिलाने के लिए हम संकल्पबद्ध हैं।”
Top police officials like Director General of Police HC Awasthy and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi went to Hathras today to talk to the family of the victim. Apart from them Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra went there as well.
The Allahabad High Court has taken notice of the case and has summoned top government officials and policemen to appear before it on 12th October.
